The Telecom Regulator (TRAI) is keen to adopt blockchain technology to envision the menace of uninvited industrial communication or marketing that leads to mobile users obtaining unwanted calls and SMS at the oddest of hours. TRAI’s extension service to pesky calls using Blockchain Technology
“Blockchain will ensure two things — non- repudiative and confidentiality. Only those authorised to access details will be able to access subscriber details and only when they need to deliver service… Trai will become first organisation to implement this kind of regulation,” Trai Chairman RS Sharma told reporters.
Blockchain is an incorruptible digital ledger that keeps record of all the transactions online. It makes a chain of all the transactions in such a way that no part can be edited or deleted or altered in any manner. Changes can only be made by adding to the existing chain.
Also, a subscriber could have given consent for a service however that consent is prone to be misused . below the planned regulation, the subscriber are able to revoke consent given to entities whenever he or she needs through Trai app and different mechanisms that may be provided below the regulation.
The new provisions are integrated into existing DND (Do Not Disturb) app.
